The Strengthening Community Capacity Working Group published a Position Paper on the critical role community foundations play to advance the Appalachian Transition.

What is Community Capacity?

The SCCWG defines community capacity as the assets necessary to plan, implement, and sustain political, social, and/or economic change efforts that are inclusive and beneficial for the majority of the community. Specifically, community capacity is made up of Individual, Intellectual, Social, Natural, Built, Political, and Financial capacities. Read about the concise definitions of each. This conceptualization is adapted from the wealth creation approach.
