The History of food systems in central Appalachia - Presented by the Food & Agricultural Systems Group

AFN Members Only

The Food & Agricultural Systems Group invites all interested AFN members to join them for a presentation and conversation around the History of Food Systems in Central Appalachia, featuring Dr. Theresa Moran.

After an overview of the food system in north central Appalachia, we'll consider this history through a lens of equity and against the backdrop of the centuries of extractive industries in the region.

Theresa Moran, PhD, holds the title of Adjunct Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Environmental and Plant Biology at Ohio University. She established the interdisciplinary Food Studies program there in 2013, leading the university-wide program until 2020. Moran’s research interests focus on the sustainability implications of food choices. She also works on agricultural entrepreneurship and institutional procurement as a driver of regional economic development.

All members of the Food & Agricultural Systems Group should have already received an invitation to this session. If you did not receive an invitation or you are not part of the Food & Ag Group and are interested in participating, please
