This annual meeting is a space for learning and analysis, where members build trust and relationships, expand connections, develop lasting partnerships, and align their strategies to accelerate the Appalachian transition.
This year, the Network’s working groups will inform participants on the analysis, strategies, and lessons learned from their collective efforts to impact a sector or issue area. By understanding each group's learning, we foster a common understanding, analysis, and vision for advancing the Appalachian Transition. This is an historic milestone in the Network’s development as this is the first time the Gathering will be led completely by our members. We are excited to learn from the working groups, to explore connections across various sectors and issue areas, and to allow for open-space conversation to be driven by participating funders.
- Strengthen relationships and trust among members.
- Deepen our collective understanding of the promising efforts to advance the Appalachian Transition.
- Align investment strategies within and across promising sectors.
- Shape the Network’s future direction.
- Have fun, be creative, and get energized.
Who Should Attend?
The Gathering is open to grantmakers, financial institution representatives, and federal agency personnel that invest in the economic transition of Central Appalachia. The Network’s dues paying members receive a $100 discount on the gathering registration fee. If you are a non-dues-paying member, we encourage you to attend to (1) better understand how the Network can help further your mission, (2) strengthen your connections to other funders, (3) deepen your learning and analysis around promising transition strategies, and (4) connect you to innovative initiatives within our working groups.
In past years, the Network has invited nonprofit practitioners and entrepreneurs to the Gathering. However, this year, funder-to-funder relationship building and learning will be the focus. Only a select number of practitioners will attend as speakers to enhance our learning together.
