The Network aspires to lift up the good work of our members and their partners working towards local solutions. The following videos demonstrate how community foundations in Central Appalachia are making strategic investments to strengthen community capacity and build community wealth.
The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation
Working with local partners, introduces a healthcare value chain, bringing local foods to local hospitals. A value chain create supply based on demand, generating jobs and wealth in local communities.
The Community Foundation for Perry County Ohio
The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio supports counties in Ohio to build funds so communities can access local philanthropic resources. Take a look at some of the differences they make as they work to Grow Home in Perry County Ohio.
Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky
Over the next 10 years, over $400 million in wealth will transfer from one generation to the next, just in Perry County. More than $1 billion in the Kentucky River region. If each of us who love our hometown would consider investing just a small amount (5%) of our personal wealth into permanent endowments, we would have $3 million each year in perpetuity to invest in local priorities and strategies for community and economic development. The 5% challenge is for people who have always wanted to give, and for those who never knew they could. Be part of this challenge and help improve those areas that are important to you and your family!
