DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION

Thriving downtowns is an essential piece of prosperous rural communities. Years of declining population, loss of industry, and outmigration have left many small Appalachian communities devastated economically. Given the pride and entrepreneurial energy in these communities, there is great potential to turn good ideas into viable projects with the partnership of organizations offering financial and technical skills and helping to build the capacity needed to redevelop these distressed downtown areas.

about the DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION group

The Downtown Revitalization Group’s mission is to help support downtown revitalization efforts across the Central Appalachian region by providing capacity building support to committed local stakeholders in their efforts to attract resources and technical expertise that can transform their distressed downtown markets into livable and economically viable centers of commerce that contribute to the quality of life for area residents.
